Painting Ronin Day 45

So we are half way though the Winter Challenge I am away from the painting table for the weekend but taking the chance to prep the next targets for my brushes. Above you can see 3 units of Crusader miniatures French SYW and a unit of Front Rank light's. I am very impressed with the crusader figures great details and well cast just a shame the range is so limited (unless you want Austrian's). The company needs to look at its web site because I passed over this company when buying for my Dads retirement figures partly due to the small range but also because the painted examples on the web page look very average. I will take some closer pictures for you to see tomorrow.
I am dropping off the painted figures in our family wargames room and as we haev some great sunlight I have taken some better pictures.

Painting Ronin Day 44

So what is a painting Ronin to do when he is taking his wife for a long weekends rest and relaxation?. well first off I have packed up all painted figures and brought them up to the family wargames room, I will take the chance as I unpack them (and have good light) to take some better pictures.
Also I brought up the next lot of figures that need prepping, I will clean up the SYW French and try and stick together some of the Bolt Action Germans and Sudan figures.
I took the French downstairs on a tray so I can work while chatting to my wife, but the dogs seem to believe I have food on the tray that they need to help me with. I will post some new pictures of my painting challenge figures over the next few days.

Painting Ronin Day 43

While reading up on the North-West Frontier I read about an incident that made me laugh and think it could only happen to an English officer.
Taken from Osprey's men-at-Arm series for the North-West Frontier
"The following day Lts. Edwards and Fowler set off from Mastuj, sixty miles north-east of chitral, with an escort of sixty men and porters carrying ammunition for Chitral. When they reached the fortified village of Reshun the Chitralis appeared to welcome them, announced a polo match and invited the two officers. After the match the officers were seized and the leaderless soldiers were overpowered and slaughtered""
You could not see a Scotsman falling for that one.
back on the painting table I missed posting yesterday due to a hospital visit, I did get a bit of painting done but really cracked on today. The largest part of painting 28mm Cav is the horse flesh, I always do this first and as you can see below I have completed the horses in all three units, I have used a few different shades on the units this has come out well.

As we near the halfway point of the challenge I looked back and totted up how many figures I painting, you can see the totals on the right of the blog above the link to Curts blog. I am well on target for beating my Par score, I hope all of you are feeling inpired to push your selves that little bit faster and getting plenty of those unloved figures painted up so they can make it to the gaming table (or E-bay if you need to reinvest)
