Painting Desk Progress

So after a weekend of gaming at the seaside and a Monday refreshing my FLT license at work on days it was only this morning when I returned to my painting desk. While Saturday was a day dedicated to the B for C game and nailing down the details Sunday was a day of chatting and SAGA, I had a game against Kev and after Loki took on my old man (shown below).
So a very satisfying weekend was spend at my Mum and Dads and a big thank you to them and Kev and Loki. So today I have been busy painting several different projects, I worked on some AW Miniatures Indians (no pictures) and my Dad's next lot of Vikings. I slapped a bit of paint on the next lot of Carl's Pulp Fiction figures and lastly a few on going commissions. Below are pictures of the current state of all projects.

Lastly I have a few pictures of the next figure to make its way to ebay its a nice Warlord Games Roman General.

not much more to say guys, I have a few long week's at work as my team leader is off on his holidays so I have to cover both shifts Sun-Thu and Mon-Fri meaning 6 nights for me while making family time a bit shorter it has little effect on the painting time as I tend to paint in the evening before getting ready for work.
Peace James

Loki's SAGA Irish

Loki and I have a little Community Currency trade on the go I am painting and providing an Irish SAGA force and Loki is kitting me out with wargames terrain so I can once again game at home. I had agreed to create a 6pts SAGA force but once I started I got a little carried away and have ended up painting 9pts. The Irish can swap Hearthguard for champions so one unit of 4 Hearthguard are painted as 4 champion figures so he has the choice. In total he has one Levy slingers, 2 javelin/spear armed Warriors and 1 Irish wolfhound unit (act as warriors). In total there are 5 Hearthguard units one which is 4 champions and 6 of them have Dane axes. I finished off with a figure that when looking at research looks to have been modeled on a picture of the king of Ireland and a little diorama with a leader and his faithful Hound and Druid.
And now to the pictures first unit is the unit of champions, and at the end is a group shot. I will pack them up tomorrow and they will travel up with me to Morecambe where I am meeting up with Loki and Kev at my Dad's so we can do a run through of the BforC game (you never know the odd game of SAGA may happen)

On top of all the work on the SAGA Irish I am trying to complete a hearthguard unit for my Dads Vikings so he can up his force to 6pts (using some celt slingers we already have). I am working on a couple of Leaders too.

I have also completed the Banana Bunch Guards

Plaid new style.

I have been busy painting a fair bit of plaid recently and have picked up a new way of doing it off a blog, the blog is a fantastic one about the Scots in the Civil war, check it out Project Auldearn 1645. So inspired I created the below plaid.
If you are wondering why I am only showing the back of the figures it is because these are part of a SAGA Irish force I am painting for Loki as part of a Community Trade.

I am very happy with the look of these and I will be sticking with this style from now on. I have also finished the base's on Johns F&IW French which will be packed up this weekend and sent home next week.

Tale of two Saga hounds

Early start for me today, was up at the crows fart and walking my dogs. After a spot of breakfast I jumped into my car and headed over the Pennines. I must say that it was a stunning drive the views were so great I had to stop a few time and take some pictures.

Yes those are Highland cows!!! made me feel I was almost on my Summer holidays. So I arrived at Andrews a little before 9 were I got to see where the magic of Terra Firma Studios That was a real treat after a nice cup of tea and a good chat we jumped into Andrew's car and headed over to Kev's I have to say that Kev's wargames room is a little bit of wargames heven. I had come over so we could talk all things  Bloggers for Charity and Blog-Con but also so I could try my first games of Saga. The first game I used Andrews Vikings against Kev's Anglo-danes and found that as I have read several times that Saga is a very easy game to pick up the mechanics but I can see it taking a fair while for me to know what works best and when. I was supposed to be trying to kill Kev's warlord but got a bit carried away just killing stuff and totally fails to get near him till the last turn when I tried a death or glory charge from a unit of hearthguard (which failed) Kev won the game on victory points. (Pictures of first game below)

The second game I dug out my Dads Vikings I had with me and Andrew joined the fun with some Jomsvikings and we had a three way blood bath. This game was great fun and inclueded a half time roast dinner by Kev's wife Charlie (along with home made apple pie). After Lunch Kev and I got down to taking Andrews force apart piece by piece. When the dust settled I was declared the winner due to having killed more of Andrews that Kev did. All in all I enjoyed a cracking day two great games and we had some great brain storming about the Bloggers for Charity game where we are going to do a few test games using M&T then with a mixed of M&T/ Black powder and finally with pure Black powder.

Finally the Two Saga Hounds mentioned in the title (I will leave you to decide which two I mean)
Thor Loki's new Dog

Frodo Kev and Charlies Dog
Loki and Kev

So I would like to say a huge thank you to Andrew and Kev for showing me the Saga ropes (or should that be dice), also a big thank you to Charlie for cooking a stonking Sunday roast on a day that was too hot to be slaving in a kitchen. Next time I will try and host these two over this side of the Pennines (although we might all be first heading up to the seaside to try out the test games for Bloggers for charity with my Dad)
